How To Bid
Ahlers & Ogletree Auction Gallery welcomes all bidders to register for each auction.
In order to provide a personalized experience, we offer four different methods for bidding.
If you would like to bid using one of these third party platforms, please refer to the terms of service and registration procedures listed on their sites. Please note that bids placed on one of these third-party sites are not modifiable or cancellable by Ahlers & Ogletree Auction Gallery.
A telephone bid should be registered when you are unable to attend the auction or would prefer anonymity, but would like to stay abreast of all bids. We suggest telephone bidding rather than absentee bidding since your presence on the phone ensures your satisfaction with the outcome.
To register for telephone bidding, please fill out and submit this form. An Ahlers & Ogletree representative will reach out shortly after submission to confirm your contact information and bids.
On the day of the auction, an A&O staff member will call you approximately 5 lots before your item is scheduled for sale. This bidding specialist will communicate the bidding progress to you and bid on your behalf, at your discretion, to the auctioneer. Our team member will relay to you at the item’s closing if you are the winning bidder, and you will be invoiced via email within 48-72 hours.
An absentee bid is the highest price that you are willing to bid for an item (aside from buyer’s premium and applicable sales tax). Absentee bids are executed starting at the lowest possible increment up to and including the dollar amount submitted in accordance with reserves and competitive bids.
To register for absentee bidding, please sign up for an account at bid.aandoauctions following the steps as outlined under the Live Online Bidding section. If you would prefer, you can alternatively submit an absentee bid by filling out and emailing/faxing this PDF form.
Our auctions are free and open to the public with attendees having no commitment to bid. The auctions last approximately 6-8 hours and attendees are free to come for one lot or stay for the entirety of the sale. There is ample seating and standing room on the auction floor and the surrounding rooms. At the opening of each lot the auctioneer will announce the lot number and starting bid. To place a bid, raise your paddle and await acknowledgement from the auctioneer. The lot will close after the auctioneer has issued Fair Warning and Last Call, at which time he will indicate the winning bidder and hammer price.
To register for in-house bidding, please visit us at our showroom at 715 Miami Circle, Suite 210, Atlanta, GA 30324 where we will be happy to register you. You will need to provide state issue photo identification and a valid credit card, as well as any applicable tax documentation.
