January 6 & 7 | New Years Signature Estates Auction
Ahlers & Ogletree Auction Gallery is pleased to present its annual New Year’s Signature Estates Auction on January 6 & 7, 2018 at its showroom on Miami Circle in Atlanta, Georgia. More than 1,100 lots will be offered in two sessions with Session 1 focusing on American art, furniture, and dec arts as well as modern design and contemporary art, and Session 2 will focus on furniture, art, and dec arts from the continent and England. Offerings comprise fine original art works, period antique furniture, antique lighting and textiles, a large collection of important black and white photography, significant pieces of sterling silver, and more.
Highlights for Session 1 include “River at New Hope”, a signed original oil by John Folinsbee included as #698 in the artist’s catalogue raisonne; a signed watercolor by Abdur Rahman Chughtai from the Private Collection of the artist’s son; a superb Reed & Barton sterling silver tea service in the Francis I pattern; an incredible collection of black and white photography including signed works by Robert Mapplethorpe, Joel-Peter Wiltkin, John Coplans, Jimmy de Sana, George Platt Lynes, and others; two large sets of sterling flatware by Tiffany & Co. in the Chrysanthemum pattern; several original signed works by William Tolliver; a supremely scarce set of “Black Shoulder” china designed by Van Day Truex for Tiffany & Co.; two Cassina for Louis Vuitton limited edition LC4 lounges; a collection of original works by Iraqi modernist Saadi Abbas Babely; several original collage works by Portuguese artist Juliao Sarmento
